Gwinnett County has a busy Tuesday ahead, and two items deserve particular attention from homeowners and commuters: the county’s 2026 millage rates and a proposed $3.43 million pedestrian-improvement contract for South Rockbridge Road.
Both are scheduled for Aug 4, 2026 at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville. Neither has been approved as of Aug 2, 2026.
County millage rate heads to a final hearing and vote
Commissioners are proposing to keep the General Fund millage rate at 6.950 mills, the same rate as 2025. The final public hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug 4, 2026, followed by a 2 p.m. business session where commissioners are expected to consider the resolution establishing the 2026 millage rates.
For homeowners, a steady rate does not automatically mean every property-tax bill stays unchanged. The county says homeowners who qualify for the regular homestead exemption also receive its Value Offset Exemption, which can keep the assessed value constant for the county-government portion of the bill. School and municipal taxes are separate.

South Rockbridge pedestrian contract is up for award
At the 10 a.m. work session on Aug 4, 2026, commissioners are scheduled to consider awarding BL087-26 to CMC Inc. for a pedestrian improvement project on South Rockbridge Road, from North Deshong Road to north of the DeKalb County line. Staff recommends an award not to exceed $3,428,430, funded through the 2017 SPLOST program.
The status language matters: this is a recommendation for award, not an approved contract, completed project or construction-start notice. Approval would authorize the contract award, but the agenda does not give a construction start date.
Why these two items matter
The millage decision affects the county-government portion of property-tax calculations. The South Rockbridge item would direct SPLOST dollars into pedestrian infrastructure along a south Gwinnett corridor. Neither item should be treated as final until commissioners act.
What happens next
On Aug 4, 2026, the Board of Commissioners’ work session begins at 10 a.m., the final millage public hearing begins at 11 a.m., and the business session begins at 2 p.m. All three are scheduled at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.
